Because it is almost Christmas and because I had a super day (and because the IT folks said to turn on my computer every couple of weeks) I am treating myself to some computer time- blog typing and music listening. I haven’t done this because my computer is going to die and I have no way to charge it. But soon I will be in Phase 2 training where I will sit and soak in internet and American-style food bliss!)

Percent Power left on my computer: 38 (since writing 2 partial blogs it has dwindled to 20)

Days until Phase 2 training: 26

Days until my Quarter of a Century Birthday: 21

Number of Days at Site so far: 47

Number of bags still missing: 3 (They missed the first ship because it was chartered to private peoples. After that they got kicked off because the ship was too full. Now they are finally on our island but they are on the other side and locked in a house belonging to previous volunteers because the holder of the key went to another island.nobody can get to them until the key holder gets back and nobody knows when that will be.)

Number of packages I’ve received from the states since arriving at site: 0 (I say this not because I’m complaining that you aren’t sending any… I’m only saying this because I know I should have 8-10 on their way and none have made it even to Port Vila yet. Sad face.)

Number of days I lived with my Apuwoman and used her bush toilet before getting my own abode: 18

How far I have to walk (up a giant, slippery hill) to get cell phone reception: 1.5 (Nick the marathoner can do it in 40-50 now)

Number of days since I last turned on my computer: 30

Number of days since I’ve had power in my ipod and camera: 35

Number of generators in our village or any form of power with the ability to charge my cameras/laptop/ipod: 0

Number of Centipedes I’ve had in my bed with me: 1 (it was only about a 3 incher)

Number of days between bowel movements: 3-4. This must be mentioned considering ever since I arrived in Vanuatu I have only been poopin’ once a week. This food is seriously stopping me up! (In case you didn’t know, PC volunteers like to talk poo)

Number of days until I go to the “other side” and have cell phone reception and possibly internet: 4!!

Wow. It was so good to hear from you twice this week. Isn’t odd how our attitudes change because of our circumstances. What’s a few roaches when real snacks are around. Wishing you the very best and can hardly wait to hear from you toward the end of this of this month. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
